Zeta worked closely with Rekk Limited to design the solar lighting exclusively for their new Nclude™ youth shelter. The Hang Out™ youth shelter range is the only shelter to offer solar powered safety lighting as an intregral part of the the structure, not a vulnerable add-on.
The safety lighting is sustainable and economic to run and maintain. Operation is fully automatic responding to light conditions - an anti-vandal measure avoiding the opportunity to tamper with controls.
The lighting is pre-set at a low level, designed to avoid light pollution but to enable young people to see each other and be seen whenever they choose to meet.
The lighting unit was specifically designed to fit neatly onto the framework of the shelter, to provide high performance safety lighting and facilitate installation and periodic maintenance.
The solar panel charges the batteries between daylight and dusk. The controller then activates the driver for the Light Emitting Diodes (LED’s) for a minimum of 7 hours.
The Energy Management system is programmed to maintain a constant level of light until the Integral Passive Infra Red (PIR) detector identifies occupancy. Once the shelter is occupied the output intensity is doubled and maintained until 4 minutes following vacation.
Year round operation
If the built in Zeta Energy Management System (EMS) detects that the battery voltage has dropped below a preset level due to exceptionally poor weather, specifically snow, the current driven to the LED’s will be automatically reduced.
In the unlikely event the EMS detects a battery level below which the unit cannot function as designed, it will switch off the LED’s for one 24 hour period to enable the system to recover.
