Zeta Solars’ Shadeworks™ solution has been used for Transport for London's solar bus stop development programme in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames in South East England.
System design
The solution features a curved PV canopy with two Light Emitting Diodes built into the underside of the canopy to light the bus stop flag sign after dark. The bus stop timetable has a constant dusk till dawn low level of illumination with a ‘bright-up on demand’ touch button feature that glows blue in the dark attracting the passengers’ attention. The system is protected against the push button being permanently depressed and has a built in energy management functionality to detect if the battery is running low. If it is, the lighting will gently dim reducing energy consumption and allow the battery to recharge ensuring year round reliability.
Continuous monitoring
Full diagnostics of the systems performance can be downloaded giving valuable information on frequency of use and other system performance data. The data is sent back to a central server via a GPRS modem, allowing continuous monitoring of the complete network.
