Solar Powered amenity lights are being trialled in Edinburgh in a move designed to help the environment, lower costs and improve security in secluded spots.
The lights have been installed on the access path to a bus stop located close to Edinburgh Airport. The pathway is mainly used by airport workers and the addition of these lights has added a greater sense of security for people making their journey to and from work.
Following the success of lighting bus shelters by solar power, with over more than 100 city bus stops benefiting from the new technology, Edinburgh City Council are hoping that the solar powered lights could be installed across the capital in remote locations where it has proved difficult, or sometimes impossible, to connect to mains power.
The Zeta Solar sunFLOWER™ is a stylish and innovative product providing practical solutions to the need of amenity lighting without grid power. The unit is designed to provide off grid self powered lighting options in urban, rural and remote locations.
The unit consists of a photovoltaic panel, a high intensity LED lamp, maintenance free Batteries and an Electronic Controller. These are all housed in an aluminium lamp standard that is designed to be low maintenance and robust.
The sunFLOWER™ amenity light is designed to be stylish, aesthetically pleasing and sympathetic to the natural environment.
